Liberty Village

Liberty Village is located on one of Toronto’s oldest settlements, and is bounded by King Street West to the north, Strachan Avenue to the east, the Gardiner Expressway to the south and Dufferin Street to the west. It also extends up along the northeast towards the CP railway tracks. The location of Liberty Village is part of what makes it so attractive – a 15 minute walk to the Lakeshore, 20 minutes on the streetcar to the financial core and just a 20 minute walk from King Street West: the entertainment, fashion and gallery districts. The area has experienced rapid growth in condominiums, loft apartments, a new park, office space, a wide number of new shops and restaurants.

Many of the former industrial buildings have been converted into residential lofts and mixed commercial use spaces. The area that is known for its successful art and design studios, and many jobs have also been created through the relocation of Canadian and US design and technology firms.

“Morphed from an industrial dead zone into an enclave of concrete, glass and brick in just a few years”, is the way Toronto Life described Liberty Village.
